Big Adventure 3- Week 13
Sunday, Feb. 27
A short drive took us to Reed Bingham State Park in Georgia today. It’s a large park with a lake, huge pine trees, palmettos, gopher tortoises, eagles, vultures and alligators. Because of a hot, sunny day, our walks with the dogs had us moving from one shade tree to another. We also had to run our air conditioner most of the day. In the late afternoon, I took a long bike ride on a trail, through a swamp full of pine trees and palmettos.

A big storm really changed the weather over night. Cold and drizzly was our weather for the day. When Christy and I were on a quick walk, I checked out the laundry room in a nearby building. The machines were brand new and it only cost .$75 to use the washing machine and $1.00 for the dryer. I don’t think we were ever so excited to wash clothes before. Two loads later. It cost us a whopping $3.50!

Still hoping that the construction on our condo will be finished in the next two weeks, we continue to move slowly east. Another Georgia state park to check out – Laura S. Walker. This was like a big city park with a campground on a lake. It was a nice place to spend a couple of days and I got to to use their outdoor workout area.

Other RVers had recommended some good campgrounds on the east coast, so we thought we made a reservation on Skidaway Island. A heavily wooded campground with roaming deer and some great trails will get us back here someday.
Friday, Mar. 4
It was nice to only have a short walk to the beach at Edisto Beach State. Carol liked it better here than I did.
Saturday, Mar. 5
Carol has wanted to stay at Myrtle Beach State Park for years, so this was the perfect time. The campground was in the woods with a little bit of a walk to the beach. There are over 200 campsites here, which makes it crazy busy and every site has at least two or three barking dogs. Luckily, every 15 minutes the barking got drowned out by the low flying jets from the nearby airport. It was so nice to leave this crowded, noisy place.

Apache RV Park is a one mile walk on the beach, north of condo. To our amazement, they had a site, right at the beach, for ten days. To enjoy the ocean view, I parked the Ham in the wrong direction on the site – that made our hook-ups on the wrong side of the RV. Hooking up wasn’t a big deal, but listening to the other RVers tell me that I was parked the wrong got to be tiring. With the beach just steps away, we spent a lot of time walking and playing in the sand.
Here’s a good drone video of Apache Pier. https://photos.app.goo.gl/VwL46bpppPzT9rMr9

We’re going back home today. It’s been a very long adventure in the Ham (over 8000 miles) and another great one.
During our travels, I check our security cameras back home and enjoy the wildlife. The deer from our front yard took their party to the backyard and invited some of their friends. Here’s my final video. I think you’ll have fun watching.
